I think that was my post. I can say that a flush fit is overrated when you are using VHB tape because it is 0.090" thick anyway. Remember that the VHB tape is not a sealant, just the adhesive. You will be filing the gap with Dow Corning 795 black silicone afterwards, anyway. I used the darker of the two gray colors of Plexiglas and found that it covered any imperfections in the gel coat completely, and I like the look. See link:
