The pins in Randy's chainplates are quite loose.  I could almost remove
them by hand.  I told him when he reassembled them to center the pins in
the chainplate and make a detent on either side with a metal chisel to
prevent movement.

While I agree thier purpose is probably to hold the bedding plate down, the
pins seem redundant if the plates are screwed to the deck.

Is this a Rob Ball question?
