he purpose is two-fold, as they also prevent the deck flexing and a compromised seal (due to unwanted movement). With the upward arc of the deck structure, including cabin trunk, it is impossible to flex down. So pins are an elegant solution.

While I agree thier purpose is probably to hold the bedding plate down, the pins seem redundant if the plates are screwed to the deck. Â
