That is sort-of backwards. I have gel batteries. They are *very* sensitive to overcharging and can die very fast from too much voltage. OTOH AGMs will tolerate higher charging voltages, hence their popularity as drop-in replacements in airplanes, boats, and cars, but die pretty fast from undercharging. They also, even if charged correctly, have a lower cycle-life than gels. Both AGMs and gels contain no liquid to spill. Golf cart batteries are the cheapest per AH and can withstand all manner of abuse. If you have room for them and their containers, something to think about. Joe Coquina

In normal use, they won't last longer, either. If you are forced to have a battery in the enclosed compartment (in your cabin), you may consider a gel battery - non-spillable and virtually, no off-gassing. From what I understand, they are less sensitive to variations in charging voltage (you can use a standard charger). Many people had decent results with standard wet lead-acid deep cycle batteries from Costco. Since you are in Toronto, personally, I would stay far, far away from Canadian Tire. Others would probably chime in on various brands that do (or don't) work on their boats. I also have a dedicated battery for my Windless (don't ask). Any suggestions. I currently have 31 AGMs. Thanks everyone. ________________________________ Glen Eddie Tel: 416-777-5357 Fax: 1-888-812-2557 ged...@torkinmanes.com<mailto:ged...@torkinmanes.com> VCard<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.torkinmanes.com%2Fvcard.aspx%3FID%3Dglen-eddie&data=02%7C01%7C%7Cc389ab1b77af4c705ad008d59a45fb60%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636584547710156782&sdata=BIjEmOfwPpbEBnHZejcXUN5v6r1TAbylQEjY1qGArlU%3D&reserved=0>
