Yes, I'm sure the track was original, as it is Lewmar equipment and matches
everything else on the boat. I was thinking something similar (I was wondering
about bedded nuts, but your approach makes a LOT more sense).
If you look at this photo you can see a "step" where the track is mounted at
the bottom of the fixed port before it steps down again to the deck level.
Would this imply such a laminated strip of aluminum?

Would you think when they put in the stainless screws they might have coated
the screws with something to prevent dissimilar metal corrosion (crossing my
fingers...)?

Having lost most of my memory now, I can’t say if this was done on the 37, but
it’s a possibility.
