Hi Richard. See this link from Stright-MacKay https://online.fliphtml5.com/jgvg/pzgm/#p=571
Coosa is a composite panel that does not rot and is very strong when stiffened with glass cloth on both sides. A lot of new boat construction now uses similar composite materials for core material rather than the traditional balsa for this reason. Normally for a bulkhead I would use marine plywood since it is less work and will outlast me but I was asked to use this which will outlast the boat. Since Persistence has been structurally very sound since we purchased her I have not had much chance to do glass work or other similar projects. Used to do a lot on our former J27 Nut Case so thought I would lend a hand by taking on this project. Is fun in a weird sadistic kind of way. I will have to admit that I have not spent much time updating Persistence web site with information from the past two years. Maybe one day sooner rather than later. There is however a lot of information on the J27 Nut Case site about projects such as replacing deck core, installing garboard drains, building boat trailers and various other tasks. Mike; thank you for sharing the project photos; (I enjoyed the photos of Persistence also): what is "Coosa Board" and why did you use it vs other materials?
