To check voltage drop: On the positive side, one lead on the + of the start battery and one lead on the connection of the battery cable to the starter. On the minus side, one lead on the – of the start battery and one lead on a clean metal surface on the starter itself. Start the engine and note the reading while cranking. Joe Coquina
