A few thoughts:

I replaced the plexi windows on my C&C 42 Custom using the 3M tape method
explained on this list. Looks 100% better and no leaks. Best of all, I did
the work myself even though I’m only marginally handy. I assume the 33-2 has
inset “go fast” windows (not the old oval frames), so this method will likely
work for you.

A friend of mine replaced the windows on his 80’s vintage 36-1 (also not the
old oval frames). He had aluminum frames fabricated by Bomar. He is pleased
with the results, but lamented about the cost.

In addition, I replaced the windows on my previous boat, a 1978 34. The
earlier 34s had the old oval frames, not the go fast windows. The size was
nearly a direct replacement with Lewmar No. 1. Because the boat did not have a
hatch in the main salon, I replaced all four main windows with opening ports.
The hard part was installing them flat, as the mounting surface on the 34 is
slightly curved in that area. As a result, I got professional help to mount
them correctly. If I were not concerned about opening the ports, a little
curvature in the surface is no big deal.

Let us know what you decide.

Subject: Stus-List 1985 C&C 33-2 WINDOW REPLACEMENT CHALLENGE

Ok everyone. I am stepping up and finally going to replace my windows. I am
open to any information or suggestions. I was thinking of replacing them with
aluminum frame windows. Any thoughts or guidance with this project. All input
is appreciated.

Thanks
