Hi Tom,
     I am told not all rudderposts have a keyway that reaches down the post
far enough.  I was lucky; mine did.  It may be that you exposed the shaft
further down than I did.  I've heard from others that they didn't have a
keyway and had to drill the post and install bolts.  Your other choice is
to remove the rudder and have a local machine shop to extend the keyway.  I
didn't take C&C's word for it concerning the diameter of the rudder post.
I carefully measured mine and Edson bored it to order.
