I guess it’s what works best for you. I have a 3 blade autoprop and trans in forward while under sail is best. The diff between reverse or neutral and forward is increased speed and no propellor noise. For example Sailing to weather at 5.5 in neutral or reverse will almost instantaneously go 6 or better when shifted into forward and slight rotational sounds disappear. I call it “passing gear”
