You can do a number of things in regards to the eyes. I frequently 
(daily) wipe my poos eyes w/ a warm wash cloth.  You can also buy the 
wipes that are for that purpose but why put chemical on them if you 
don't have to.  You can also trim that hair as it gets long.  I use a 
blunt tipped sciccors. One of mine lets you know prob and the other 
doesn't sit still as well.  When they just settle down at night is 
when I cut.  for Vinnie, Sometimes its only one eye per night, he 
will sit for 1 but not for 2.  No sense in stressing him out. I do 
the same w/ his nails.  Frankie will let me trim all of the them. 
Him, only 2 per night maybe. But thats okay. As long as it gets done.

As for the new home problem.  If this a brand new home or did someone 
live there before you. Could be marking territory... or just being a 
little rebellious.  Just be patient. Sticking their nose in it doesnt 
do anything other than make their nose stink LOL!
