First of all no question is too stupid. Some dogs with long ears grow hair
in their ears which needs to come out as it can block the air from
circulating and cause ear infections, many of the first generation don't have a
 problem
with it, my 2 first gens I never have too because inside their ears there is
never any hair growing, now on my 2 second gens I do pluck the hair that is
growing inside the ear, I use hemostats and its not hard and it doesn't hurt.
If your having the dog groomed by a professional they will take care of
that job for you, I do my own grooming and why I do it myself.

I am sorry, nobody ever told me about this---and I have never owned a
poodle.
