The part that I quoted. NSAttributedString support is not "worthless" at all. 
Both CATextLayer and the Core Text drawing routines accept an 
NSAttributedString. With CATextLayer, displaying an attributed string is one 
line of code!

However, that doesn't solve your problem. The solution is probably to assign 
yourself a different problem; there's no styled editable text on iOS and that's 
that. It doesn't pay to fight against the framework. m.
