Asking a similar question, I pointed someone at an example in the Langham/Ziegler book (a zip source). Someone else then made a point that the jar: protocol, built into the JDK, can read Zip files. So check out the accessing files with jar: in the JDK and let us know where you get to! Hope this helps.
