Stefan Miklosovic commented on CASSANDRA-16565:
-----------------------------------------------

Thank you [~claude] for incorporating the review into (1) from the previous
comment of mine. I have closed (2). I squashed and rebased against trunk and it
sits at (1) bellow.

I think that happens now is that [~jlewandowski] goes to merge this (2) bellow
into 5.0 and trunk and then we might also start to retrieve kernel version by
oshi library as suggested at this ticket. I expect that in trunk, this will be
added into our oshi code so we can stop to parse it from the command line like
currently done in 19196.

> sigar is used to check if the environment has good settings for running C*,
> but requires we bundle a lot of native libraries to perform this check (which
> can also be done elsewhere). This project also appears to be dead as the
> last commit was around 6 years ago.
> With the move to resolve artifacts rather than commit them, removing this
> dependency would remove majority of the artifacts fetched from GitHub.
