So I think the issue may be that you are using the Selector Match Labels when really you need to put Labels in the Object Metadata. Take a look at this [old code](https://github.com/apache/incubator-heron/blob/fd7fde0518562d60a7a85679715e2b15ee464d37/heron/schedulers/src/java/com/twitter/heron/scheduler/kubernetes/AppsV1beta1Controller.java#L296) that put labels on the PodSpec. The PVC's Selector (as is the case for other objects also) is used as the query to match on something else's metadata labels.
