Classification: D / Zeta external application-mode design.\n\nThanks for the update. I found the submitted STIP at #12457 and the linked implementation PR #12460. The umbrella item remains in design review: #12460 is currently BLOCKED with a failed Build check, and it is not evidence that Application Mode is implemented or ready to merge.\n\nI have recorded the detailed scope decision on #12457. For tracking here, please keep the state as proposal/in review until a YARN-first contract is accepted, the implementation is narrowed to that contract, and its CI and source-level review are complete. Kubernetes can remain in the design comparison, but it must not be treated as an accepted MVP implementation merely because it is present in the same PR.
