Thanks @SEZ9 for closing the lock-release discussion. We agree that the existing finally closes the descriptor on the normal and exceptional paths, and a dedicated extra test is optional. My approval and the reviewed scope remain unchanged. Please keep this head as it is for these resolved points; the remaining action is maintainer reconciliation of the required check and effective review, not another source patch. This is an unchanged-head discussion reply, not another complete source review.
