Ayush Saxena commented on HADOOP-18207:
---------------------------------------

>From the ByLaws
{noformat}
All participants in the Hadoop project are encouraged to show their agreement
with or against a particular action by voting.{noformat}
Second,
{noformat}
Consensus approval of active committers, but with a minimum of one +1. The code
can be committed after the first +1, unless the code change represents a merge
from a branch, in which case three +1s are required.
{noformat}
{quote}I have no issue merging it.
{quote}
Most of us don't have issues even merging our own PR, without another binding
vote, given our experience with the project and how much we trust ourselves.
:), but the ByLaws doesn't allow us to do that.

If [~weichiu] can put a +1 on the PR now and if we can merge the Addendum, we
are good from my side. Revert will unnecessarily increase work for Viraj as
well...

But if he doesn't do that or doesn't want to do that, we should revert it

Side Note: Good to check the Jenkins results usually before merging despite any
external/trust factors

> There are several goals here:
> # Provide the ability to change log level, get log level, etc.
> # Place all the appender implementation(?)
> # Hide the real logging implementation.
> # Later we could remove all the log4j references in other hadoop module.
> # Move as much log4j usage to the module as possible.
