IMHO these should wait until after 2.0. Do not forget: We are beta now and NOT supposed to add features / change API. We must focus on stability and documentation now. This means we are feature complete for 2.0. The last call for features was issued by Oleg just before we released beta 1. So it's definitely too late for anyone to include new features now.
Maybe #17416 can be a performance optimization, so we can still include it, IF we maintain API compatibility.
I guess Jandalf will agree.
