There is an alternative to trapping. Check out Ground Hog Stopper at www.messinawildlife.com. It's OMRI certified organic and safe. It works by smell and taste and will not wash off after a heavy rain. Lasts for approximately 30 days. And it's great for armadillo, skunk, raccoon and woodchuck as well.

Trapping is pretty much the same answer I had arrived at but, as with all committees, I had other people who wanted to know other methods. At the farm I simply send in my terriers and follow them with a 22 just in case one of the varmits gets past them. Can't do that in town. I appreciate all of the input. Now, I need to go convince some folk we need to get a trapper in here to get rid of these critters. If you are planning to live trap, please have a professional remove them, they can be extremely foul tempered when cornered or trapped. They must be trapped or fenced out--and the fence needs to be fairly extreme.
