Hi Amy,

In Albuquerque, New Mexico we have Rio Grande Community Farms, which is a 
501(c)3 managing a farm on public land with an outreach component.  Check it 
out at http://www.riograndefarm.org/.  Very nice people running the operation, 
and they are attempting to address the "how" in being a part of a functional 
food system.
