I am in London Ontario. We got information from the United Nations offices in
Ottawa and New York for a teen conference we were running on Ecology and the
Environment in 1990. Two concrete concepts that the UN was really big on at
that time were Community Gardens and "Pop Ed" They were using these two
learning platforms to teach everything from math and reading to social studies
and politics. "Pop ed" means popular education and its the idea that you can
learn with what you have almost anything in the base knowledge category. Its an
investigative and collaborative open source style of education. Anyway they
sent me books which I have since passed on to others, but they might have
copies left. You never know.
The Waldorf school pedagogical approach includes the idea of gardens being used
to teach math, art, science, singing and physical education and also using
those subjects to teach gardening.
