Our garden is surrounded by eucalyuptus and we have no problems at all. You
just need to add lime each time you plant to combat the high magnesium levels
from the euc and ensure enough organic matter. We add 25 pounds of dolomite or
oyster shell flour per 200 sq ft along with a layer of manure or compost. A
soil test is worth the $25 and can help determine how much and what amendments
should be added. We routinely trim back the euc and occasionally remove one to
prevent shading.

Subject: [Community_garden] Community Garden Expansion
Community Garden Managers,
We are in the process of expanding our existing community garden. What
are your thoughts of creating gardens in shaded areas, near Eucalyptus
trees AND do any of your gardens have vehicle access where the garden
members can drive into the garden and access their plots?
