It's more an indication of the internal digital part. If you take an 8 bit 
sound file, it only has 8 bits to store that data in. If it's 16 bit (CD 
Quality) then there's a whole lot more space for data. Once it's analog, 
the bitrate isn't directly there, but it greatly affects quality.
