I know, I used one (once) for a Midi Exhibition, that's the only thing I
ever thought they were any use fir - Midi, they did that better than any
machine I'd seen or have seen. Cubase for the STE was a cool program and
so much easier to use than the PC version :).

The GUI was almost as good as the Mac GUI IIRC but ran at TV resolution
to make it usable on TC sets.

I kinda guessed that much, bu thanks for the pointer ;).

I know they don't look like a compact power supply as they are but I
suspect they may be what is inside the metal case on one of the
compacts, not the whole unit. I;m not saying you guys should break open
the PSU on all your compact Macs, like you would anyway, but maybe a
more detailed investigation? My dad swears they are for one type of
Compact Mac, they never had any Atari STEs as they were not used by the
education authority he worked for, actually that's a lie, one music
teacher had one STE, the one I used, for Midi. The fact is they bought a
bulk lot of these PSUs, of which we have 5, for Macs. I'm trying to get
in touch with the guy who is the technician and used to work with my dad
to see if he knows.
