The width control is actually an adjustable coil. If youy say 'to the limit', I guess the adjustable core is way out of the coil, on direction. Try the other direction. Does anyone know which wires I >should tap? An educated guess will do. Ah, that seems to be my cue, since Philip provided me with all the Compact schematics. According to them, the power connector has 11 pins in a row. Pin 10 on the connector provides + 12V (red). Pin 9 can be used as ground (black). Better double check with tast voltmeter.
