exactly, it's a cheesy voltage tester, probably formerly used by some
aerospace company or the military, it's definitely not a crt discharge
tool, though it might work it might shock the daylights out of you since
it's not intended to have high voltage insulation.  keep it with your
car, that's probably the only place it will be useful for anything other
than an ice pick.
