I use an SE/30 running 7.5.3 as a file server on a ethernet and it serves OS 10.3.3 machines but it's one-way only. The SE/30 cannot see the G4. On login to my Panther-box I execute an AppleScript which in turn calls up a tcsh script which uses mount_afp to mount disks running on the SE/30. It was a real pain to create and I learned a lot about BSD UNIX while doing it. Ask off line if you want the scripts.
