PDS means Processor Direct Slot, and yes often times they do function
like PCI.  For example, I have a PDS ethernet card exactly like what
you're looking for in an LC 475 right now.  Laptops such as the Duos,
though, have a PDS slot that is used by port replicators such as the
Mini Dock and Floppy Dock.
