Isn't it against copyright laws to have printed articles available on a
site without permission?

Technically, it is. However, I am trying to get permission whenever possible (none of the authors I asked objected, even when asked well after I put the stuff online), and I believe that putting articles of such vintage online doesn't cause anyone any harm. I am not earning any money from that and I treat it as preservation of written matter that would otherwise go missing -- one of the points is to help other people in getting to read what'd be hard or even impossible to get without the site (usually it already takes me a substantial effort to unearth the articles, even though they're only 15-25 years old).
