I now have 3.01. Versions 2.0.0.16 and 3.01 both have the problem. I had
no trouble at all while it was 2.0.0.14. If it's possible, I'd like to
go back to 2.0.0.14 until Mozilla fixes this "undocumented feature". Can
this be done?

What version of Thunderbird are you running?
I've got 2.0.0.14 and clicking on a link in an email brings up FF 3.0.1.
