tom, i have been to many an auction where bidding fever takes over. if he is willing to pay at least one million dollars(lets be serious), i decide i am willing to pay 1mil,10,,,,,,,,,,,,and 20 and thirty, etc clear up to two million, because did not someone else think the item worth that much. if you look at bid histories, you will see many cases where some person(usually with a rating of 2 or 4 or 0) bids 10 times in the last two minutes. this is called "auction fever". it can be complete avoided if one puts in a bid with 6 seconds left.
