the f/w800 was an easy install. after all, there is a f/w800 plug on
the back of the screen.
the usb 3.0 is another matter. MS does not support usb 3.0. the pci
card did not want to load. the 3.0 driver did not want to load. i
think i finally have it loaded, but the device driver shows a 2/21/06
MS 2.0 driver in the disk driver section,
in the usb controllers>usb 3.0 root hub, it shows a "VIA 1/7/2011" driver.
when i tested drive speeds by dumping a gig of jpegs, looks like i get
about 1GB per minute. the literature talks about 1 Gbit/sec. i think i
divide by 8 to get bites. that's about 40 gb/minute. need help to fix
the problem

i bought a 1T WD drive, and a 2T seagate. the WD is terrible. it is
hard to load. once loaded, it is difficult to find. there is
supposed to be software with it, but i cannot get to it. i decided to
send it back. i downloaded the WD upgrade, and software for
something. i cannot delete it by standard delete techniques. the
seagate on the other hand loaded like a piece of cake. i got an
unnessary piece of software called memeo plus, or somesuch. it has as
many ads as norton. hope it goes away at the 30 day trial period.
i have purchased a 2T seagate 800/fw for wife's machine. had to buy
the 800 f/w seagate interconnect. was only $20, and with only 100 for
the drive, all seems pretty reasonable to me.
