Is it xmms from Mandrake ? What version exactly ?
What you describe seems the bug with with mmap() (that is why our .spec
files has:
# The file Input/mpg123/common.c doesn't work with mmap(); so we change
# the config.h file to don't use mmap()
cp config.h A
cat A | sed 's|#define HAVE_MMAP 1|/* #undef HAVE_MMAP */|' > config.h
before launching 'make'.
