I restarted the computer despite those unresolved symbol errors and it also gave me errors at the sturtup when starting ALSA but the sound appears to be working. And so far I didn't get any of the metalic sounds like with Mandrake version of ALSA.
For the last couple of days I'm using ALSA CVS drivers and didn't get any metalic sound so far. So it looks like there is some problem in Mandrake packages :(
I'll continue testing with CVS version and listen carefully if I get any problem.
