Got test results back on hanging system. ---------------------------- Make that 6 members of the 2.6 club, with one glitch: nVidia Disabling framebuffer in lilo let me see the boot messages, which revealed to me why the screen just sat there. I'd forgotten that I had edited the /etc/inittab file to pause for input at the runlevel so I would be able to choose between console (3) or GUI (5). So last night, it was waiting for me to enter the runlevel for booting, which if I'd realised I would have just hit 5 and enter to continue, albeit it would probably get me to this point I am at now. Successful boot of 2.6test but no X. Which means that I will need to recompile the nVidia drivers manually or revert back to the non-nVidia drivers, the latter being the quickest solution. ---------------------------- Known solution for nVidia so no new bugs. Also confirms that XOSL->lilo works fine.
