[Cooker] gmc, gdm fonts wacked up

Hello all!

Is it just me or it there a problem with fonts using some gtk apps such
as gmc and gdm:

it seems like especially icons fonts don't line up properly.  Text is
not centered under the icons etc...

I started noticing that a while back when I was using 7.1 with cooker
packages and the problem would show up only after upgrading XFree-3.3.6
to XFree86-4.  Now the problem persists in 7.2...

Any idea on how to fix that???  This is rather annoying
