        Because previous mandrakes didn't use a 2.4.x kernel, while 8.0 does.
Something in the 2.4 kernel triggers the bug, while 2.2.x didn't (at least not
as far as I know)

        The bug is with all VIA chipsets, not only athlons....it killed me a
while back, and I have a celeron
