Hmm..  I'm running 2.4.13-2mdksmp and still get freezes in the night :-(.  
I'm always in X, and haven't been able to see if they are panics or not..  (I 
started a thread a few days ago on it, discovered that my CPU might have been 
overheating due to a dust-clogged air intake, cleaned it, and have had it 
exhibit the same nightly freezes twice more :-(.

Are you running an SMP kernel?
