Only if you use W9x or ME might the extended partition type be relevant to possible data loss, and only if there are M$ partitions beyond cyl 1023 that must be accessed while winDOS is booted. Powerquest is being a good little Micro$erf warning you that the non-standard M$ 0Fh extended type is not in place.
