Not realy. The database only holds redundant information of the mailheader. 
The E-Mail ist stored almost unchanged as plain text file (one mail in one 
file - similar to maildir). the loss of mail is nealy impossible (assuming a 
valid backup is availible). The database can simple be rebuild by a command. 
Only the acl and the quota stuff can get lost on a heavy database damage.
