The liquid in this recipe comes from the pie filling. You need to mix those first three ingredients quite thoroughly before you continue. The graininess of the Jello should be almost all gone when you finish stirring. Then you continue the recipe as written. I have not made this but have eaten a version of it. It is one of those easy dessert salads that appears to be a lot more work than it actually is. I hope it turns out well for you.
