Hi Paul,
Hello Pranav,
I recently upgraded to Tahoe, which regrettably broke Coot v0.9,
forcing me to move to Coot v1
You are not alone.
mid-refinement. I am navigating the steep learning curve of the new
version and have a few basic questions:
1. I've noticed that I cannot change the map contour level using my
external Bluetooth mouse's scroll wheel; it only responds to the
trackpad. How can I get Coot v1 to recognize the scroll wheel for
contour level adjustments?
You are not alone on this either. I have reports of non-basic mice not
being able to scroll the map. I have not been able to reproduce the
problem and have added some diagnostics.
You can use keyboard + and - to change the contour level.
About -> Shortcuts...
2. The clipping planes (slab size) in Coot v1 seem much narrower than
in v0.9, where it was easy to isolate the local vicinity of a residue.
Is there a way to override the default settings in Coot v1 to match
the broader slab size of Coot v0.9?
Hmm.. Looks good to me. You can change the clipping planes with the
1,2,3,4 keys (in and out for front and back).
3. What is the correct way to select a specific range of residues and
perform a real-space refinement (RSR) on only that selection?
Range/pair, click atom, click atom -> Refine -> RSR Range Refine
But one rarely needs to be specific about the molten zone and can use
the "auto" selection methods more rapidly.
I will rework the GUI to give you a message if you click RSR Range
Refine with having set the atom pair (like Make Link...).
4. How do I display crosshairs? (This was mapped to the 'C' key in v0.9.)
Not enable in 1.1.x. I didn't think that they were used, so I didn't
reinvent them for 1.1.x.
Noted.
5. Coot v0.9 had a feature that labeled the atom you selected and
translated to. How can I re-enable this labeling feature in Coot v1?
I don't know how I lived without it for so long. It will be in 1.1.20.
Paul.
