I understand. However, when a performance claim is made for a PR then the proof 
surely must be included in that PR. This is essential for others to be able 
easily to verify a claim in their environment. I do not think this should be up 
for debate because it's a matter of scientific verifiability.

There is no reason not to include the _specific benchmark_ that is the basis 
for a performance claim. Apart from anything else, it will make life much 
easier for future maintainers reading the history.
