Learning about the sliding Stromberg mixture control reminded me of a
"fuel saver" that was being marketed by a company up in N. Idaho
where
I grew up. Basically what they did was the same thing the carb does,
they plumbed a vacuum hose to the float bowl and adjusted it with a
small needle valve. You then adjusted it the exact same way you do
an
aircraft, open the valve until it starts running rough and then back
off a touch. Interesting that they could sell this to the public :)
