Colonels are just so dang much fun. 'specially when they're drunk. ha-ha
Has anyone seen the Blue Angle in recent years? I saw them in Kalamazoo a
few years back and their support plane, a C-130, did a JATO demostration.
Talk about impressive. Off the ground in about 300ft. Climbed at about
60/70° and then levelled off at about 500ft AGL. All in very short order.

Make that USAAF. I saw it done on a Gooney Bird (C-47) early one
Sunday morning over in Engand in
1955. WOW, was that ever impressive!!
(One of the things Colonels do for excitement when they get drunk. It
was a wager between the Base
Commander and a TDY B-47 Wing Commander at the "O-Club" the night before.)
