----[Please read http://ercoupers.com/disclaimer.htm before following any advice in this forum.]---- Dennis,
From Desser's web site, 85%
of all commercial airlines use retreaded tires.
http://www.desser.com/retreads.htm Like
you I was not to sure about using them. I have them on my 182 they work. (5
years now) I know they hold up 500% better than "new" low
end tires. I think AVweb did a story on retreads, you may want to
check.
Also I know some retract drivers that will not use them. The
reason they say, is because the side wall is thicker on the retread.
Has been known to get stuck after being retracted.

Hello to all ,Just how safe are recapped tires especially a nose tire.I'd be leary of them.I'veseen lotsa truck tires spewn on the road. I realize the heat of a truck tire is different and the load etc etc BUT we touch down at about seventy and there are cross winds that put a different load on the tire than anything else.some of you will swear by them and others swear at them lets hear the crossfire. I need a 5:00x4 and want to hearabout this.
