Coupers
I must admit I am baffled when I read the many comments about such
things
as "the age old carb ice bug". I owned my 415D, 85 hp coupe for a little
over 1 1/2 years before having my heart attack and selling it. During that
time I put over 150 hours on it but never experienced any carb icing. We
have humidities in the 90's during the winter and usually between 15 and
20
percent in the summers, here in the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. The only
problem was trying to keep the carb heat on for takeoffs and landings
because the carb heat used to move into the off position by itself. I
solved that problem by installing a locking type control knob which
required pushing a center button in order to move from on to off.
I sold 103JF begrudgingly to Richard Todd. Richard have you had
any
problems with carb ice since you bought it?
I enjoy staying tuned in to this forum, even though it is
sometimes a
bitter sweet experience since I haven't flown since May 15, 2000 when I
checked out the new owner. I have had offers to go for rides but it would
not be the same as flying my own Coupe.
Keep up the good work even though I don't enjoy some of the
meaningless
arguments that sometimes go on and on.
Jack G.
