               Ken.

You're lucky your plane has no paint on it. With it being
straight
aluminum, life will be much easier for you in the re paint department.
I
would start with a really good scrub down with those kitchen scrub
pads
like Scotch Brite. They're non metalic and rough up the surface so you
get a good grip surface for the paint. Take all small bits you can get
off and paint them separately. It will give a much better job, and you
get the paint protection in places that get covered up later. On my
wings, which are fabric, I just wiped them down with lacquer thinner
and
painted right over the dope finish. It worked well. That would be of
course, as long your dope finish on the wings isn't peeling or getting
very tired. After you have scrubbed everything down well, wash it
down
well with lacquer thinner or acetone and then an aluminum primer wash.
NO smoking while you're doing this! Then on to your epoxy primer, a
light sanding, a wipe down with a tack rag,[to pick up any lose dust]
and on with the paint. I don't even pretend to be an expert on this
painting stuff, but this is pretty much what I did on mine and it came
out fairly good. Have some fun with it .
